FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

What is compostable certification?

Certification to AS 4736 verifies that a plastic product will fully break down in an industrial composting environment, ensuring it is truly compostable.

For a product to be certified, it must completely break down and return to nature within six months in an industrial composter, starting with fragmentation within 12 weeks.

AS5810 has two distinct meanings: it can refer to the Australian Standard for home compostable plastics, or to a specific Trim-Tex architectural"Z" shadow bead.

The Australian Standard AS 5810 pertains to home compostability, whereas the Trim-Tex AS5810 is a decorative building materialfor drywall.

Are these bags distinct from regular plastic bags?

Yes, they are 100% plastic-free. Just like our larger Eco Friendly Bin Liners, these Compostable Dog Poop Bags are certified to break down completely. We use the same high-quality material as our trusted Food Scrap Bags, ensuring they leave no microplastics behind, whether in a home compost or an industrial facility.

Can I put dog poop bags in my FOGO bin?

Our bags are AS 4736 certified Organics Bin Liners, technically suitable for council bins (green bins). However, while they meet the standard for FOGO Bin Liners, acceptance of pet waste varies by location. Some councils welcome them as Green bin bags Council processors can handle, while others prohibit animal waste due to pathogens. Please strictly check your local council's FOGO guidelines first.

Are they thick enough to pick up without leaking?

Absolutely. We know the unpleasantness of thin bags, so we made ours Extra Thick and Leak Proof. They offer the same heavy-duty reliability as our kitchen Organics Bin Liners, giving you confidence on every walk. They are tough enough to handle the job while remaining an eco-friendly choice.

How do I dispose of them if I don't have a FOGO bin?

These bags are dual-certified (AS 5810 Home Compostable). You can dispose of them in a dedicated pet waste home compost system. Even if you must use a general rubbish bin, they are a better choice than plastic, as these Plastic Free Dog Bags are made from renewable resources, unlike traditional liners.

How can I be sure these bags are genuinely plastic-free?

Our AS 4736 & AS 5810 certifications are the guarantee. They prove these are legitimate Eco Friendly Bin Liners made from the same plant-based material as our kitchen Food Scrap Bags, not traditional plastic. This certifies them as genuine Organics Bin Liners. While they meet the technical standards for FOGO Bin Liners designed for council bins, please always check if your specific Green bin bags Council service accepts pet waste before disposal.
